its general attitude to life, the Swabian metropolis, with its very
distinctive character, is well worth a visit – time and time again.
To make your experience of Stuttgart as stress-free as possible,
we recommend you use our buses, trams and trains. Thanks to
a dense network of public transport and well-co-ordinated
schedules, you can get around Stuttgart quickly and easily. You
can also use public transport to take an exciting tour of the
provincial capital.
With this little guide, you’ll be able to find your way through
the maze of various ticket options available, just like a “real

Tickets are available for purchase from VVS ticket machines at
public transport stops and stations, from bus drivers and all VVS
ticket offices. With the Mobile Ticket, you can buy your tickets
spontaneously on the go, while with the online PrintTicket, you
can print your tickets at home. More information is available at
www.ssb-ag.de/tickets
The ticket price will typically depend on the number of tariff
zones you wish to travel in. Tariff zone 10 includes the “core
zone” of Stuttgart. Tariff zone 20 reaches somewhat beyond
the borders of Stuttgart.

You no longer have to validate (time-stamp) any tickets
that you buy from a ticket machine or driver. The only
exception is the Multi Journey Ticket, which must be

As the name suggests, the Short Distance
Ticket is ideal for short journeys, e.g. if you
want to get quickly from the main railway
station to Schlossplatz.
Validity
•
The Short Distance Ticket is valid for travel up to three stops
on trams or buses (without transferring to other lines or
breaking the journey), and to the next stop on S-Bahn trains
and the local railway network (DB, WEG).
•
The journey must be commenced immediately from the stop
indicated on the ticket and transfers are not permitted.

The Day Ticket is a good choice for those who
do a lot of travelling during the day and are still
on the move at night.
Validity
•
With the Day Ticket, you can make as many journeys as you
like in one day.
•
The travel card is valid until the end of operating hours
(including night buses) from purchase or validation, but may
not be transferred to another person.
Additional information
•
Day Tickets purchased in advance before a price change and
that have not been validated will be valid for a period of
one year.
•
Online PrintTickets are valid on the date printed on the ticket
and within the selected tariff zone/s.
Whether you’re travelling alone, as a couple or
a small group, the Multi Journey Ticket will
save you money. Another advantage is that these
tickets are valid for up to one year.

•
The ticket is valid for four single journeys within the selected
area (tariff zone/s).
•
The ticket can be used for up to two hours from purchase
or validation.
•
When two or more people are travelling on a Multi Journey
Ticket, one section must be time-stamped per person and
journey.

The 3 Day Ticket is a special ticket designed for overnight guests
at hotels, B&Bs and guest houses within the VVS network, as well
as for visitors attending conferences or meetings.
Validity
•
The 3 Day Ticket is valid for three consecutive days for one adult
and two children (aged 6-17) for an unlimited number of jour-
neys within the selected tariff zone/s.
•
The ticket must be validated and signed before the first journey
and is non-transferable.
Additional information
•
These travel cards are available for sale at the reception desks at
numerous hotels, B&Bs and guest houses.
•
3 Day Tickets are also available on presentation of written proof
of an overnight stay in a hotel or a conference registration form
at the i-Punkt Tourist Information Office (Stuttgart, Königstr. 1A)
or at the Welcome Information Centre at the airport (arrivals hall
in Terminal 3).

The Group Day Ticket allows groups of up to five

or parents with any number of children aged up to and
including 17.

Tour 2: Discover Stuttgart with children
This tour is not just great fun for children: Take the steep ride
up on the rack railway to experience nature in the “Haus des
Waldes” forestry education centre, grill sausages, enjoy an ice
cream and the unique views from Eugensplatz and take the
rack railway back down to the lower palace gardens (Unterer
Schlossgarten).
Itinerary:
•
Start: At the main station (Hauptbahnhof), take the U14
(direction Heslach) to ”Marienplatz.
•
Travel with the rack railway to the final stop “Haus des
Waldes” und continue to the barbecue and playground area
•
Walk back to “Ruhbank and take the U15 to Eugensplatz,
then continue on foot to the lower palace gardens.
•
Alternatively, you can walk to the stop Waldau” and take the
U7 to the main station.

Tour 1: Right up high, at the top of the world in Stuttgart
Stuttgart has many hills, vantage points and parks, offering
great views of the beautiful Rems Valley, the Bopser – including
the TV Tower – and, of course, the valley basin. The area sur-
rounding the city’s vantage points is perfect for a relaxing walk
or a little quiet and contemplation. Alternatively, you may fancy
a ride on the miniature railway to Killesberg.
Itinerary:
•
Start: At the main station (Hauptbahnhof), take bus No. 44
(direction Killesberg) to “Im Kaisemer”, vantage point:
Chinese gardens.
•
Travel with bus No. 44 to “Killesberg Höhenpark”;
vantage point: Schlaichturm observation tower
•
Take bus No. 44 back to the main station or walk through the
IGA grounds and the Rosenstein Park to the stop Mineral-
bäder”, and then travel with the U14 to the main station.

Tour 4: Stuttgart with all the bells and whistles
Our tour will let you experience Stuttgart from every angle and
soak up the region’s special charm and way of life – from a visit to
the “Weißenhofsiedlung” – a housing estate built for exhibition in
1927 – to the historic Hoppenlau Cemetery and the city’s various
trendy neighbourhoods. A ride on the legendary rack railway –
affectionately known as the “Zacke” (tooth) by the locals – and the
Karlshöhe lookout are the highlights of this tour. And you can visit
all these places on just one bus!

Tour 3: Stuttgart and its vineyards
From the Württemberg mausoleum (Grabkappelle) to the idyllic
district of Uhlbach – this tour is all about wine and the many
vineyards Stuttgart has to offer. You may want to sample a few
glasses of wine for yourself – after all, when you’re travelling by
public transport, you can enjoy a drink or two!
Itinerary:
•
Start: Take the U4 from “Rotebühlplatz (direction Untertürk-
heim) to the final stop. Change here to bus No. 61 and
travel to the final stop “Rotenberg”. From here, it’s just a
short walk to the picturesque mausoleum.
•
For the way back, we recommend a short walk downhill
through the vineyards to Uhlbach, including a visit to the
Museum of Viniculture (Weinbaumuseum).
•
