There are two basic methods to install reverse channel letters. For each method return depths
and spacing off the wall will vary depending on you and your customer’s lighting preferences.
The closer to the wall the, more concentrated or intense your halo will become. Moving the
sign farther from the wall will increase the spread of light around the letters but sacrices its
intensity. A 3-5 in return with 1-2 inches of spacing off of the wall will yield good results. How-
ever, you should always build a sample to ensure best results.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
METHOD 1 METHOD 2
Method 1 is constructed with the LEDs pointing directly at
the wall. This will require a diffused back instead of a clear
plex or lexan. You can choose a very transparent plex or a
clear plex with a layer of white translucent vinyl. By defus-
ing the light you will create a nice, even halo.
Method 2 is the least expensive since it is constructed with a
clear plex or lexan back. The LEDs are attached to the plex
or lexan with the light being directed into the letter. The light
will reect inside the letter and then leave creating an evenly
defused halo. For the best effect, the inside of the letter should
be painted white, the more reective the paint, the better.
