Next Steps After Taking Your Exam(s)
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) and Land Surveyor-in-Training (LSIT) Applicants
If you passed the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) or Fundamentals of Surveying (FS) Exam:
Submit a complete application for certification as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or a Land Surveyor-in-
Training (LSIT) through BPELSG Connect once you have the required qualifying experience.
If you have fulfilled all certification requirements and passed the required exam you will be issued a
wall certificate. Once certified, your certification number will appear on your BPELSG
Connect dashboard. The wall certificate will be mailed approximately 6-8 weeks after the certification
number has been issued.
If your address has changed since you submitted your application, log in to your BPELSG Connect
account to change your address.
If you failed the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) or Fundamental of Surveying (FS) Exam: Log
in to your MyNCEES account to register for the exam. You do not need to submit anything to the Board
or notify the Board in any way. View the Exam Schedule for additional information.
Geologist-in-Training (GIT) Applicants
If you passed the ASBOG Fundamentals of Geology (FG) Exam:
Legacy applicants who passed the ASBOG Fundamentals of Geology (FG) Exam-If you are a legacy
applicant (if you submitted a paper application, approved before the launch of Geologist-in-Training
applications in BPELSG Connect) you do not need to take any action after you receive notice that you
passed the ASBOG FG exam.
Certificate numbers, for legacy applicants who have passed the exam and have met all certification
requirements, will be automatically issued every two (2) weeks.
Your wall certificate will be mailed to you approximately 6-8 weeks after your certificate number is
issued.
If your address has changed since you submitted your application, submit an address change using the
Online Address Change Form.

New applicants who passed the ASBOG Fundamentals of Geology (FG) Exam-Log in to your BPELSG
Connect account to resolve your exam deficiency and inform the Board that you passed the exam. To
resolve the deficiency, click the “Resolve Deficiencybutton on your dashboard, change your response
to the question “Have you passed the ASBOG Fundamentals of Geology examination?” to “Yes”, and
upload a copy of your exam results. Next, select Respond”, then check Resolvedand Save, and
lastly click “Save & Nextand Resubmit, to resolve the deficiency. Do not resolve the deficiency until
you have received a passing score on the exam. It is recommended that you resolve the deficiency as
soon as you pass the exam; failure to resolve your deficiency after passing the exam will prevent your
certificate from being issued.
If you have fulfilled all certification requirements and resolved your exam deficiency in BPELSG
Connect, your certificate number will automatically be issued within two (2) weeks. Once certified,
your certification number will appear on your BPELSG Connect dashboard. The wall certificate will be
mailed approximately 6-8 weeks after the certification number has been issued.
If your address has changed since you submitted your application, log in to your BPELSG Connect
account to change your address.
If you failed the ASBOG Fundamentals of Geology (FG) Exam: You will pay exam fees and seat fees
directly to ASBOG’s exam vendor Prometric/Iso-Quality Testing (IQT) and sign up for the exam through
Prometric/IQT upon email notification. Prometric/IQT will send an email to all eligible exam candidates
in early February for the spring exam and in late August for the fall exam (from the email address:
registrations@isoqualitytesting.com).
Agricultural, Chemical, Control Systems, Electrical, Fire Protection, Industrial, Mechanical,
Metallurgical, Nuclear, and Petroleum Engineer Applicants
If you passed the NCEES Principles and Practice of Engineering (PE) Exam: Submit a complete
application for licensure to the Board through BPELSG Connect once you have the required qualifying
experience.
Upon application approval your license number will be automatically issued within two (2) weeks, if
you have fulfilled all licensure requirements and passed all required exams. Once licensed, your license
number will appear on License Lookup and on your BPELSG Connect dashboard.

application for licensure to the Board through BPELSG Connect once you have the required qualifying
experience. Applications are accepted on a continuous basis. View the Applying for Licensure as a Civil
Engineer page for additional information. Upon application approval you will be eligible to take the
two (2) state-specific exams required for licensure (Civil Seismic Principles and Civil Engineering
Surveying).
If you passed the NCEES Principles and Practice of Engineering (PE) Exam and the state-specific
exams (Civil Seismic Principles and Civil Engineering Surveying): Upon passing both state-specific
exams, your license number will be automatically issued within two (2) weeks, if you have fulfilled all
licensure requirements. Once licensed, your license number will appear on License Lookup and on
your BPELSG Connect dashboard.
Your wall certificate will be mailed to you approximately 6-8 weeks after your license number is issued.

Structural Engineer (SE) Applicants
If you passed both components (vertical forces and lateral forces) of the NCEES PE Structural Exam
(see the FAQs for detailed exam related information):
Legacy applicants who passed the NCEES PE Structural Exam-If you are a legacy applicant (if you
submitted a paper application, approved before the launch of Structural Engineer applications in
BPELSG Connect) you do not need to submit an application in BPELSG Connect and you do not need to
contact the Board once you have passed the NCEES PE Structural Exam. If you are unsure if you need
to submit an application in BPELSG Connect, submit an email to BPELS[email protected]v with
your full name and a description of your circumstances.
License numbers, for legacy applicants who have passed the exam and fulfilled all licensure
requirements, will be automatically issued every two (2) weeks. You can search by name on License
Lookup to check if your license number has been issued.
Your wall certificate will be mailed to you approximately 6-8 weeks after your license number is issued.
If your address has changed since you submitted your application, submit an address change using the
Online Address Change Form.

Surveyor Exam required for licensure.
If you passed the NCEES Principles and Practice of Surveying (PS) Exam and the state-specific
Professional Land Surveyor Exam: Upon passing the state-specific exam, your license number will be
automatically issued within two (2) weeks, if you have fulfilled all licensure requirements. Once
licensed, your license number will appear on License Lookup and on your BPELSG Connect dashboard.
Your wall certificate will be mailed to you approximately 6-8 weeks after your license number is issued.

account to change your address.
In accordance with Business and Professions Code section 8750, each Professional Land Surveyor shall,
upon licensure, obtain a seal or stamp. Please refer to Title 16, California Code of Regulations section

If you failed the NCEES Principles and Practice of Surveying (PS) Exam: Log in to your MyNCEES
account to register for the exam. You do not need to submit anything to the Board or notify the Board

If you failed the state-specific Professional Land Surveyor Exam: Submit an exam request to the
Board through BPELSG Connect. Review the Re-Examination Information page for directions. View the

Professional Geologist (PG) Applicants
If you passed the ASBOG Fundamentals of Geology (FG) Exam, ASBOG Practice of Geology (PG) Exam,
and California Specific Exam (CSE): Log in to your BPELSG Connect account to resolve your ASBOG FG
and ASBOG PG exam deficiencies and inform the Board that you passed the exams. To resolve the
deficiencies, click the “Resolve Deficiency button on your dashboard, change your response to the
questions asking if you have passed the exams to “Yes”, and upload a copy of your exam results.
Next, select “Respond, then check “Resolved and “Save”, and lastly click “Save &
Nextand Resubmit, to resolve the deficiencies. Do not resolve the deficiencies until you have
received passing scores on the exams. It is recommended that you resolve the deficiencies as soon as
you pass the exams; failure to resolve your deficiencies after passing the exams will prevent your license
from being issued.
