About Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy
Part of the National University of Singapore, the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy (LKYSPP) was
established in 2004 with the mission of educating and training the next generation of Asian
policymakers and leaders.
Our strategic location in Singapore – a city-state widely known for its strong governance and
efficient civil service - enables students to study in one of the best public policy laboratories in the
world, while accessing the wider Asia-Pacific region in a distinctively global environment.
Nestled in a parkland renowned for its beauty and serenity, visitors can enjoy a campus environment
at Bukit Timah that is second to none in Singapore. Situated beside the world-famous Singapore
Botanic Gardens, a newly crowned UNESCO world heritage site, the conference venue is spread over
sloping lawns and grassy quadrangles, interspersed with pristine white colonial-era architecture in
the neo-classical style. These white buildings serve as home to think-tanks and generate strategic
research on contemporary issues, from international law to Asian regional developments, from
social policies to economic growth and water management.
Take a trip in our virtual tour and enjoy the beautiful and scenic Bukit Timah campus.

About Festival of Ideas 2022
To celebrate LKYSPP’s 18
th
Anniversary, the school will be hosting its flagship event named “Festival
of Ideas”. The previous Festival of Ideas was held in 2019, which was the school’s 15
th
Anniversary.
Held between 10 to 14 October 2022 (Mon to Fri), the festival will be a fully physical event where
attendees can attend on-site at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, located within the
Singapore Botanic Garden - a UNESCO World Heritage site. Interested participants may also attend
the webinar sessions between 10 to 13 October virtually via Facebook Live at 7.30pm.
During the five-day celebration, the festival will be offering a wide variety of programmes ranging
from distinguished lectures series, panel discussions, book launches, to dialogue with minsters,
workshops and many more. This will be one of LKY School’s largest events, involving all of our
faculty, alumni, students, research centres and partners.
The theme for the second biennial LKYSPP Festival of Ideas will be “Asia at the Crossroads: A World
Disrupted”. The spotlight is on Asia. As the world undergoes efforts to overcome the pandemic,
preserve our environment, manage geo-economics risks, and protect state sovereignty, the
international community has watched, sometimes criticised, and at other times emulated the words
and actions of Asian countries. These challenges, compounded by demographic and technological
change, also bring opportunities. At this crossroad, will Asia step up and fill the urgent need for
global leadership? Or will the region itself succumb to new threats and tensions? The answer will lie
in the ability of societies and communities to leverage the ideas, talents, and knowledge available to
them and to pursue good governance, both in their domestic and foreign policies. During this five-
day festival, the school will explore and discuss on the potential opportunities and challenges that
lies ahead for Asia.
