What is the difference between fbijobs.gov and
apply.fbijobs.gov?
FBIJobs.gov and apply.fbijobs.gov are connected, but they are two different websites. Fbijobs.gov is the
public facing website that anyone can discover from a web browser search engine. On the FBIJobs website
you can:
Explore job descriptions, minimum qualications, and locations
View eligibility, hiring process, and benets information
Learn about diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives at the FBI
Apply.fbijobs.gov is the Oracle Application Portal that is connected to FBIJobs. This is where you can view
open job opportunities and apply to them. You can access the Application Portal by typing in apply.fbijobs.gov
directly into your browser. On the Application Portal you can:
Create a prole
Search job openings
View exact job requirements
Submit job applications
Track applications
Submit required application documents
Why can’t I see a back button on the Application Portal
(apply.fbijobs.gov)?
The Application Portal (apply.fbijobs.gov) will display a back button after you have selected a particular job
from the list in order to return to the main list of jobs.
If you are accessing the Application Portal via fbijobs.gov (e.g. “View all Jobs” button or “Sign In” button),
and are not seeing the back button on the Application Portal, it could be because you have opened it in a
new tab rather than the same tab. The link to the Application Portal will open in the same tab by default.
If you want to open the Application Portal in a separate tab, you can type apply.fbijobs.gov directly into your
browser search engine in a new tab.

Who can I contact if I have a question about the
apply.fbijobs.gov Application Portal?
You can click the vertical triple dot icon on the top right-hand corner of the apply.fbijobs.gov Application
Portal of and select the Contact Us button from the dropdown.
What if I cannot log into my FBIJobs Account?
Ensure you are using the correct username and password combination for your FBIJobs account.
If you have forgotten your FBIJobs account username, select Sign In, and then click on Forgot User Name.
In the Primary Email Address eld, enter the email address associated with your account. Next, select Email
User Name and then select OK. Your user name will be sent to the email address associated with your
FBIJobs account. Be sure to check your Spam or Junk folder for this email.
If you have forgotten your FBIJobs account password, select Sign In, then select Forgot Password, then enter
your User Name, and select Email New Password. Select OK to request a new password.
You will receive a temporary password to the email address associated with the FBIJobs account for which
you entered the username. Be sure to check your Spam or Junk folder for this email.
Please note: When you receive the temporary password, we advise that you “type in” the temporary password
into the eld just as you see it and do not copy and paste. If you try to copy and paste the temporary
password, it will appear as if extra characters have been added - please ignore the extra characters if you are
trying to proceed.
Use your username and the temporary password provided in the automated email to log into your FBIJobs
account. You will immediately be asked to create a new password. If you no longer have access to the email
address you used for your FBIJobs account, please reach out to your Human Resources point of contact or
the Human Resources point of contact listed on the job announcement for assistance.

What if I don’t see my job offer in My Notications in my
FBIJobs account?
It may take up to 24 hours for your conditional or nal job offer to post to the My Notications page of your
FBIJobs account once you see an offer status update on the My Applications page of your account. If your
offer does not appear in My Notications after 24 hours, you may submit an inquiry to FBIJobs Help via the
Contact Us online inquiry form.
What if I cannot view my job offer in My Notications?
We recommend you use Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge to access your FBIJobs account, and to use a
desktop computer rather than a mobile device.Ensure you have turned off any pop-up blockers that may
prevent you from opening attachments.
If you still encounter issues viewing your job offer, log out of your account and close your browser windows.
Open a new browser window.To clear your browser cache, press the CTRL, SHIFT, and DELETE keys at the
same time or navigate to the Clear browsing data window in Google Chrome or the Cookies and site data
window in Microsoft Edge through the settings for your browser. Follow the prompts to delete all browser
data for All Time and ensure you check all of the available checkboxes listed.For Google Chrome, ensure you
select all the available checkboxes on the Advanced tab.Next, close all browser windows again and open
a new Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge browser window (open the browser for which you just cleared the
cache).
If you still cannot view your offer after following these steps, please submit an inquiry to FBIJobs Help via the
Contact Us online inquiry form.
What if I want to delete my FBIJobs account or disable
notications?
Your FBIJobs account cannot be deleted, deactivated, or disabled; however, your account does become
inactive after 365 days of inactivity.
If you would like to disable any notications, follow these steps:
1. Navigate to My Notications in your FBIJobs account.
2. Select Manage Communication Preferences in the top left of the page.
3. Select No for each notication method you would like to opt of (e.g., “I would like to receive notications
via email”).

What if I would like to reapply to a job posting?
If you have been disqualied on an application because you made an error in your responses to the
preliminary screening questions or you would like to amend your submitted application, you may reapply to
the job posting if the job announcement is still open.
If your application has been submitted and your application is not in a processing status, you may withdraw
your application and reapply to the posting; if you cannot withdraw your application, you may still be able to
reapply. You cannot delete a submitted application; you may only withdraw it.
To withdraw your application, select on the caret/right arrow symbol to the right of your application on the My
Applications page, and select Withdraw Application.
What if my personal information or documents keep
disappearing in my FBIJobs account?
As a security feature of the site, if you have not applied to a job or have had no activity within your account in
the past 365 days, your personal information (such as your address and phone number) and/or your attached
documents will temporarily not appear.
You must re-enter your information if asked, and once you apply to a job again in your account, your
information will automatically save.Your documents should also then appear automatically.
What if I need to update my Social Security Number (SSN)?
Please reach out to your HR point of contact or Applicant Coordinator to have your SSN updated.
If you have not yet submitted an application and therefore do not have an HR point of contact, please contact
the point of contact listed in the job announcement to which you are applying.In the meantime, you may
submit your application.Once your application is processed, you may contact your HR POC or AC to update
your SSN.

What if I cannot add my Self-Reported Language(s) to my
Application?
Please follow these steps:
1. Sign into your FBIJobs account and navigate to your open application.On the self-reported languages
step of your application, delete all self-reported languages.Note, you may need to delete the rst
language listed before you can delete other entries.
2. Select Previous to return to the previous step and then select Next to return to the self-reported languages
step, which should now have no responses.
3. You should now be able to add one entry per language.You may only add one entry per language.
What if I want to change my Primary Email Address on my
FBIJobs account?
Your primary email address is the email address you will use to retrieve your user name and temporary
password reset. It is also the main email address to which your notications will be sent if you have email
notications enabled. You may change the primary email address tied to your FBIJobs account by navigating
to My Account Information when logged into your FBIJobs account. Select the caret/right arrow symbol to the
right of your primary email address at the bottom of the My Account Information page. You may not use the
same email address for multiple FBIJobs account.
What if I started an application but lost my progress?
If you see your application draft in My Applications, select the caret/right arrow symbol to the right of the
application and select to Continue Application.If you do not see your application draft in My Applications, you
may reapply to the job posting if the announcement is still open.
Tip: Be sure to select Save as Draft before you advance to each step of your application. You will see the

What if I have a question about the status of my application
or background investigation?
You may view your application status at the top of the My Applications page in your FBIJobs account. Please
reach out to your human resources point of contact for specic questions regarding your application, hiring,
or background investigation status.
If you are a special agent applicant, please reach out to your Applicant Coordinator, your New Agent/
Analyst Testing and Selection Unit point of contact, or processing eld oce. If you do not know the contact
information of your processing eld oce, use the Find a Special Agent Recruiter feature on FBIJobs.gov
(Find a Recruiter) to locate the contact information of your nearest eld oce.
Where can I nd job postings for the FBI Honors Internship
Program (HIP) or Collegiate Hiring Initiative (CHI)?
To nd current postings and announcements, visit apply.fbijobs.gov and select View Jobs. To search for HIP
or CHI postings when they are offered, enter a keyword such as “honors” or “chi” into the Search Postings
search box at the top of the page.
Select Start at the top right of a job announcement to begin your application. You will be prompted to sign in
or create an FBIJobs account.
What if I cannot add Location Preferences to my Approved
for Hire Prole?
Your Approved for Hire prole must me active to add location preferences in your prole. To add locations
preferences, navigate to the bottom of the Approve for Hire prole page, use the magnifying glass button to
select a location from the drop down (you are unable to type directly into the eld). The default number of
location preference selections is six; to make up to ten selections, click the plus (+) arrow on the page to add
more selections.
What if I am an intelligence analyst applicant and have a
question?
If you have a question about an intelligence analyst matter, you may email FBI_Sta[email protected]
regarding intelligence analyst application matters or email [email protected] regarding intelligence analyst
testing matters (Intelligence Analyst Phase 1, 2, or 3 Testing).

about the application?

What if I am a special agent applicant and have not received
my Phase 1 invitation email?
If you have received a notication in the Next Steps section of your Special Agent Applicant Portal notifying
you to “Check your email for information about scheduling and completing your Phase 1 Test”, but you have
not received this email yet, please continue to check your email.
If you still have not received the invitation email within a week, please email [email protected].
If you have other questions regarding your Phase 1 status, please contact your New Agent/Analyst Testing
and Selection Unit point of contact.

What is the Special Agent Applicant Portal?
The Special Agent (SA) Applicant Portal is a dashboard that appears in SA applicants’ FBIJobs accounts
after they have passed the SA Phase 1 process. The SA Applicant Portal is used to schedule the following
appointment types for SA applicants:
1. Meet and Greet (Not Phase 1)
2. Phase 2 Interview and Written Assessments
3. Physical Fitness Test (PFT)

How do I delete or attach documents?
It can take a day or two for attachments uploaded to a submitted application or uploaded to your global
prole to appear on your My Applications page of your FBIJobs account.
If you still do not see your attachments or are having trouble attaching a document to an application or to your
global prole, rst ensure you are using a Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge browser on a computer instead
of a mobile device to access your FBIJobs account. Also try logging out of your account and opening a new
Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge browser window. To clear your browser cache, press the CTRL, SHIFT,
and DELETE keys at the same time or navigate to the Clear browsing data window in Google Chrome or the
Cookies and site data window in Microsoft Edge through the settings for your browser. Follow the prompts to
delete all browser data for All Time and ensure you check all of the available checkboxes listed. For Google
Chrome, ensure you select all the available checkboxes on the Advanced tab. Next, close all browser windows
again and open a new Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge browser window (open the browser for which you
just cleared the cache). Finally, log into your FBIJobs account with your username and password.
Once you have submitted an application, you cannot edit the application or its attachments. For non-special
agent applications, if you would like to add a document that you did not include in your submitted application,
you may withdraw your application and reapply if the job announcement is still open and your application
is not in a processing status; when you reapply, you may then add the desired document(s) to your new
application. Alternatively, you may upload the desired document(s) to your global prole (see instructions
below). For intelligence analyst or special agent applications, if you are requested to upload an updated
resume, you may upload the desired document to your global prole (see instructions below).

prole, please follow these steps:
1. At the bottom of the My Applications page in your FBIJobs account, you should see the My Cover Letters
and Attachments section. See the screenshot immediately below:
2. Click the plus sign (+) there to begin adding your document.
3. In the Add Attachment window that appears, select the applicable Attachment Type. For instance, if
uploading a resume, select Other; if uploading a transcript, select Global Transcript; if uploading a DD-214
document, select DD-214; if uploading a School Certication Form, select School Certication Form; etc.
See screenshot further below.
4. For Attachment Title, you must:
Type the attachment title directly into the Attachment Title eld. This title can be different than the le

the bottom of the My Applications page. “All” will be listed for the document in the “ID” column, indicating

you have applied and will appear as attached to all applications to which you will apply in the future, as
long as you do not delete the document from your global prole.
15. You may attach additional documents to your global prole using the steps detailed above, and you may
also delete any globally-attached documents by clicking on the caret/right arrow symbol to the right of
the attachment; in the Edit Attachment window that appears, click on Delete.
